….the dimension, invisible to the eye, that lies in all things……

The mystery of reality is not to be unveiled, but approached in a subtle way in a drawing or a painting.  This is s crucial element in ‘Tourette’s work.

Only to indicate the essence of the matter, it’s transparency.  A consistent intense regard for detail.  The more transparent the image, the more clear, or tangible, this essence can become: always in the same way, though with a different approach and a different depiction.

Through form and colour, but also through fresco-like structure of the drawings as well as the paintings, you are allured in a subtle way to another realm.

Tourette studied at the Rietveld academy in Amsterdam and graduated in 1976.

She has had exhibitions in Amsterdam and the surrounding areas.  She maintained an atelier in Amsterdam for many years.  She eventually started working by commission. Commissions included portrets , book covers for Oek de Jong and Camus, and illustrations for the NRC Handelsblad newspaper and Parool and Hollands Maandblad magazines.
